Conveying knowledge on the fundamental methods and concepts of Biostatistics and Epidemiology constitutes an important task in the teaching activities of the ISPM Basel. In order to convey this knowledge in as attractive and up-to-date manner as possible, internet-based curricula for both subjects have been, and are being, developed under the leadership of the ISPM. They particularly target medical students in Switzerland, but also address persons involved in further training in Public Health and qualified medical personnel. The projects are supported by the Swiss Virtual Campus and were developed, or are being developed, in collaboration with specialists from different Swiss universities. The curriculum BOMS imparts “Basics of Medical Statistics” and was developed between 2000 and 2004. BEPI imparts “Basics of Epidemiology” and should be available on the internet from 2007.
